To start, get your supplies

  • extra-small screwdriver
  • file or piece of metal, etc.
  • fingerboard
  • skateboard griptape

If you need griptape, go to your local skateshop and for scraps/leftovers. If they don't, just buy a sheet of griptape. You'll be able to grip fingerboards for years.

Take your trucks off of your fingerboard.

Cut a slice of griptape about the size of your fingerboard.

Line up the griptape to two of the sides(ex. front and left) so that you don't have to cut as much off. Also, try not to make air bubbles. Press the griptape down well to push out remaining air.

Then trace the board while pressing hard with a file, edge of scissors, or something similar. (BE CAREFUL) This makes it easier to cut off the griptape off.

Now you need a knife or razor (BE CAREFUL). Go around the board cutting closely to the edge, cutting off the extra griptape. Then take a piece of scrap griptape and sand around the edge really well around the board. This prevents the griptape from peeling.

Next, find something to poke holes where the screws should go in (tech deck screwdrivers work, or something about that size). It's easier to take a pin or something and from the underside (graphic side) poke through so that you don't have to worry about making unnessacary scratches in your new grip.

Slap those trucks back on go rip up the fingerboard park!
