Billboards for the New Age

Urban communities and interstate systems are often littered with billboards and other intrusive advertisements. The latter is especially true to North Dakota; with large, unnatural, and unnecessary structures juxtaposed with gorgeous rolling prairie. If we can defame such landscapes in this way, why not do the same to our rivers, scenic vistas, and beyond?

Cent. Comm.

Central Communications: now distributing poPRO activities with a newly designed atmosphere, as part of a site-wide evolution. Stay tuned.

Light Graffiti, part 1

I’ve began working on a technique of time exposure photography where flashlights are utilized in a fashion emulating paintbrushes. With two artist comrades, Alex B. and Benny P., the first attempts began and yielded one especially satisfactory image [inspired by this one]. This is the first of more collaborative art productions.

Contradictions

The poPRO Logo

Poodus Productions, the name under which I produce art, has been in production operation since the summer of 2004. The logo, along with organization itself, has evolved significantly over the years. Below is a brief collection of poPRO logos.

Post-ation

Central has been post-less for week-s, but that was only a temporary condition. Now that I have my new computer (by which I mean: my (fixed) old computer), projects are back in progress and on the way. Stay posted.
My show at Kathleen’s was finished on the 1st, but two of the photos are in an adjudicated show at BAGA.

Digital Design

I took a great class last year called “Digital Design,” at the BPS Tech Center. The experience inspired me to approach design in a conceptual and informed way. Here are 2 of my favorite projects from the class.

Recycle Recycle is a new view on the passive and banal recycle logo. This new image is an attempt to refresh an old visual idea, with the hope of creating interest and involvement in it. [8.5″x11," notebook, scanner, pencil, Adobe Photoshop. 2007.]

Patriotism - 2nd place, Computer Design

Patriotism is a response to mindless submission to the romantisized “patriotism” that many Americans seem to feel. The idea was inspired by a quote from Sole. [8.5"x11," camera, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator. 2007.]
